Robert Cramp began as
a self-taught hobbyist, building functional items for his home, gifts,
and basic furniture. As his interest grew he sought ways to develop
his woodworking skills. Individual instruction from an established
crafts-man followed. Rob then took a Fundamentals of Wood-working course
at Boston’s
North Bennet Street School. With increased confidence and encouragement
from his instructors and peers, Rob entered into the Cabinetry and
Fine Furniture Making program and graduated from North Bennet Street
School in 1997. From his Williamsville, Vermont workshop, Rob builds
custom-designed and antique reproduction pieces. He has participated
in the Rock River Artists open studio tour and winter show for five
years and attends juried art exhibits.
“Finely crafted furniture should endure as both functional and beautiful.
I like the idea that people may pass my work on to their children and
grandchildren and that it will be around long after I am gone.”
